What do you mean by "LCD"? I have a Dell 20" widescreen. Fullscreen panos look great!

I mean Liquid Crystal Display, you have LCD or CRT? on my CRT Dell also fullscreen panos look great. But if I have to migrate to an LCD monitor wich is the best or better for VR panos.
thanks, Dorin

On my Mac G5 at work I have a 23" Cinema Display (1920x1200 hidef). the Panos that are at least 5K look great too. But you can get the sony 24 or the Dell 24 which uses the same glass for a little less. But you pay for industrial design with the Mac.

I agree with Revmark. Wide screen is great for viewing panoramas, and mostly you need a letterbox LCD for it rather than a 3:4 CRT or LCD of old.
Great if, like me, you don’t mind accentuated geometric distortion either side of centre. Then I never took the term Virtual Reality literally.
Of course, to take advantage of full wide screen (14.5” by 9” on my laptop) the VR has to be configured for the corresponding aspect ratio in the first place. From now on that’s what I will do.
Incidentally, I don’t view QTVR with QuickTime but with RealPlayer in Theatre Mode (I suppose equivalent to Cinema Mode on Revmark’s Mac). Oh yes, RealPlayer plays .mov files too.
As to quality, my Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop’s LCD is good but not the best. Don’t depend on manufactures’ specifications. Go to your local computer store and inspect those options you can afford. That will avoid dissapointment.

Thank you Mark and Revmark,
Good point with aspect ratio issue, I've remember that when I'll create my panoramas.
Do you have by chance let's say at home good quality CRT and at office good quality LCD or vice versa to compare how panoramas look, or both kind of displays at home or at office?
I'll check about RealPlayer. Sure I'll go to computer store, then browse on my mebsite to see my panoramas if those look as good as on my 35kg CRT Dell at home.. bingo I have a winner!.
One more information.. if someone is kind to provide to me please
On thing that I wasn't able to accept on LCDs that I saw before is changing of color on display by simply moving my head. On CRTs the colors don't depends on angle/position from where you look at but on LCDs does (more or less) Wich are the "less" ones
thanks again Dorin

Dorin, My Dell 17 inch LCD suffers badly from what you describe. Only bright with good colour rendering right into the corners when your eyes are perpendicular with the centre of the screen. A new meaning of Personal Computer - for my eyes only - if you get my point - but there are better LCDs with viewing angles almost as good as CRTs. Mark

Dorin, I've just gone off RealPlayer for QTVRs. It doesn't seem to have any provision for continuous magnification. QuickTime does, so I shall revert to it. Mark

Thanks Mark,
I went to a computer shop today, a small one, I look at all LCDs on there but no luck, changing_color_by_moving_head big time, one yung salesman there even don't understood my problem, he says "All LCDs have that effect" so I guess are two possibilities here 1) is very expensive a LCD with quality closer to a good trinitron tube crt
or
2) such thing does'n exist and what Smooth say "I'm running flat screen CRT 1280 x 1024 ..." I guess, confirm that
I wonder what use John Houghton or Andrey Ilyin for stitching and retouching those beautiful pieces of work that I saw here ...
thanks for update about realplayer.
I'll check a biger computer shop tomorrow
thanks to all, Dorin
