Nodal Ninja Prices in the UK

Yesterday I used paypal to buy two stops for my Nodal Ninja (Using stops was actually my original idea www.panoguide.com/forums/tipsntricks/1984/?page=2 )
Nick Fan said: Thanks Martin for the ideas. I will try to make some plastic blocks for preseting location on the rails.
Today my money was refunded and I was told to buy from RedDoorVR here in the UK. If I had wanted to use Red Door I would have used them. Their prices are much higher than ordering direct: Here is an example: Price for the NN3 RedDoorVR is £182.07 Direct from NN £113.435
Both of these prices are before postage - even if I get charged tax the price is not as high as buying in the UK. So why can't I do this?
I have bought two versions of this pano head now, because of the quality of the product and I wanted to support Nicks business. Please can someone explain why we can't buy direct.
Thanks.
Martin

Hi Martin, Sorry for any confusion - I'll try to clear the air here a bit. Firstly you CAN buy direct from the website. International orders "must" add $10 to the order to cover the additional cost in shipping overseas (located on the order page). It would take between 2-4 weeks to get your order (assuming Standard Priority). Secondly ordering from Red-Door is much more expeditious. Rail stops are free to NN3 users that did not receive them in their early orders - all you would pay is the shipping. So this would be cheaper and quicker if you ordered from the UK. In addition, ordering accessories from the reseller you purchased your NN from helps the reseller to better follow your order history.
The reason for the pricing differences is due to the VAT and customs fees each country charges. Some countries I understand pay as much as 20% or more. We let the resellers charge what they feel to be competitive rates. Knowing a customer can buy from the website (in the US) or from another reseller forces the reseller to keep prices in check.
Please let me know how you go with your order with Red-Door. If they are out of stock - contact me through the website and we'll work something out for you. Thank you Bill

Dear Marin,
shipping from Germany is very easy!
Price: EUR 200,- net (with European VAT-number) without plus 19% German V.A.T. (than you haven´t to pay the V.A.T. in the UK).
Shipping: EUR 15,- net (express service)
see www.vr-head.com
PayPal possible!
Have a nice day
Marc

Hi bill, it's great that NN allow ordering directly from the site and simply adding $10 for international shipping but the reason for not accepting more resellers when the country's reseller is not doing anything in reply mails nor actively promoting pano taking. I'm talking directly about Singapore.
I've mail NN but believe due to the afore agreement or not with the reseller, i cannot resell or offer competitive pricing to people whom i know are trying hard to purchase NN3 or it's replacement accessories. I've tons of question on what pano head i use, how do it order it in. Even China where a photography shops has requested info as, like what your site states, China is like Singapore, no taking up resellers any more. I do not know the situation in China but in Singapore, the only way seems to be getting NN's product from NN directly. It may be better money i do not know but i actively promote pano taking and organise outings and we try to share whatever techniques we may come up with like my recent light painting with pano. eg at moonshine.homedns.org:2655/pano/2007/10/23/light-... has generated much questions.
Also check out www.geobytes.com/IpLocator.htm?GetLocation, see the location of your singapore reseller. Their site is not even hosted in singapore.
I am all for the idea of keeping the countries guys doing the countries sales. I have nothing and am not discriminating other fellow pano/vr photographers trying to do sales in other countries. I dare say, i understand singapore's culture, people and mindset better.
Singaporeans wants things fast, price competitive, it may not be the cheapest but if they can get it quick, they do pay and service and after sales support is everything.
FOr your serious consideration to allow taking of more reseller from people at this part of the world, Asia.

Hello etegration, Firstly the location you referenced for a Singapore reseller is my location here in Arizona. Not sure about how you are getting your information as we have no resellers in the Asian market at this time. Secondly, and with all due respect, issues concerning reselling is not a place for a "public" forum and better handled through the the website. Our decision to close off certain demographical areas for distribution is strictly an internal choice that we remain every right to reserve. It may not be agreeable to some and for those we apologize. This is not to say things will not open up in the future so contact me through the website if future interest may be entertained. Cheers, Bill

I like you bought my NN2 and NN3 from Nik Fan and Bill and both pre-dated the new stops. On making an inquiry to RedDoorvr, Tony Quinn very kindly sent me a set of stops. In the tradition of Bill and nick his service is excellent and he did not even charge me postage. For which much thanks.
